Gandolf's Fine Chocolate, L.L.C., was founded in Sonoma County, California by Guy Daniels, who developed a passion for fine chocolate after attending business school and working for the largest bank, brokerage, and computer companies in the world.

Inspired by a desire for chocolate he could not afford, Guy borrowed the name 'Gandolf' from his cat and started Gandolf's Fine Chocolate, L.L.C. He invested several years researching chocolate and experimenting with a variety of fine chocolate and chocolate making procedures. In the process his passion for fine chocolate has grown along with his knowledge of the history, mythology, chemistry and economics of fine chocolate.

Guy sees parallels between fine wine and fine chocolate, particularly in how the products are sold. The wine industry in California has done an extraordinary job of educating wine drinkers of the merits of fine wine. Their success has proven that people want to know more about the wine they buy, they care about quality and are willing to pay more for it.
